Game Wrap: Bills beat Ravens 23-20

A thriller at Ralph Wilson Stadium as the Bills hold off the defending Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens, 23 to 20.

The Bills took a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter with a Dan Carpenter Field Goal. On Baltimore's ensuing drive Aaron Williams picked off Joe Flacco, giving the Bills the ball back at Baltimore's 25. Unfortunately, the Bills weren't able to do much, as Carpenter had to settle for another 27 yard field goal.

The Ravens took the lead early in the second quarter thanks to a 10 yard touchdown pass to Marlon Brown Via Joe Flacco. Buffalo and Baltimore then swap punts, and with 8:45 left in the first half, EJ Manuel fires a strike to Robert Woods for a 42 yard touchdown. This would be the first of two unanswered scores by the Bills, as on their very next possession, Fred Jackson finds a hole for a 16 yard touchdown run, making the score 20-7 heading into the 2nd half.

Buffalo receives to the start the third quarter but can't get much going, but neither can the Ravens. It takes six drives combined before Baltimore scores thanks to a Torrey Smith touchdown catch, making the score 20-14. After a Shawn Powell Punt, Joe Flacco tries to find Marlon Brown, but the Bills intercept the Ravens Quarterback again for their 4th interception of the game. Buffalo makes good use of the turnover, but thanks to a successful challenge flag thrown by John Harbaugh, Robert Woods touchdown catch is overturned, and the Bills yet again have to settle for a field goal, making the score 23-14 in Buffalo's favor heading to the 4th quarter.

In the final frame, Buffalo sustains a very long drive, over six minutes, heading into Baltimore territory. Manuel tries to hookup with Woods again deep in the Ravens' Red Zone, but they can't connect - EJ throws his second interception of the game, this one by Corey Graham. The Bills' D hangs tough, despite giving up a 74 yard reception by Torrey Smith - The Ravens can't get six, as Justin Tucker connects for a 35 yard Field Goal. Buffalo then goes three and out, and the Ravens respond with another Field goal, making it a 23-20 ballgame. Fast Forwarding to the two minute warning - Ravens drive their way all the way up to midfield, but Kiko Alonso comes up big with his second interception of the game, sealing it for the Bills by the final score of 23 to 20.
